Dysmorphophobia

What effect does the digital space have on our self-image? The mental illness body dismorphic disorder (BDD), in which people can no longer recognize themselves or perceive themselves in a very distorted/distorted way, is increasing dramatically with the use of social media filters. 16-year-olds have surgery to look like their filter self. Asymmetrical facial features and natural bodies need to be hidden behind augmented avatars and through a streamlined, distorted digital reality.
